William O'Connor ruins Euro Tour return of Mervyn King; Callan Rydz and Michael Unterbuchner also through to second round

William O'Connor has advanced to the last 32 at the International Darts Open at the expense of Mervyn King. For King it was his first Europena Tour since late 2022, last year 'The King' had not qualified for any European Tour tournament.

King got off to a good start with a 160 finish in the first leg, but the 58-year-old Englishman fell behind in the fifth leg after a 17-darter by O'Connor. King then equalized, but then was broken again. O'Connor didn't look up after that and won 6-3.

Michael Unterbuchner provided the first German success at the International Darts Open. The German, who reached the semifinals at Lakeside in 2018 and 2019, recorded a handsome 6-4 victory over Luke Woodhouse.
