Williams eases through in World Darts Championship debut against Shibata

Lewy Williams is through on his debut at the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship seeing off Toyokazu Shibata in a 3-0 sets success.

Williams impressed with a 93 average, 41% on the doubles and three 180's as he saw off the Japanese qualifier who some tipped for success against the new Prince of Wales.

Williams settled into the tie better troubling the throw of Shibata. They both missed multiple darts to conclude the first leg before Williams finally took out double two to break.

Williams pinned 55 as he consolidated a break of throw to go one away from the opening set which he claimed on double 12.

Both shared holds to begin the second set, Williams went 2-1 up and one away from a 2-0 sets lead. Shibata was on 2/11 on doubles and Williams took the set.

From there, Williams breezed to the finishing line pinning 52 on double 16 to claim it.
