Thursday night Stephen Bunting and Nathan Aspinall open the ninth round of play in the Premier League Darts in Berlin. For Bunting, who performed fine on the ProTour this week, it is another chance to finally get his first league win.
The darter from St Helens arrives in Germany with a hefty dose of confidence after his impressive performance at Players Championship 10. Bunting averaged 103 over five matches there, culminating in a sensational 111.72 average in his victory over Mike De Decker at the last 16.
Still, the former Lakeside champion is having a particularly difficult time in the Premier League. Despite strong performances, he did not manage to win in the first eight rounds of play. He hopes to change that in Berlin against Aspinall, who is only two points away from a spot in the top four.
Tonight games will be played at the Uber Arena, which in recent years has been known as the Mercedes-Benz Arena. This playing venue is the newest in the list of playing cities where the Premier League Darts visits. Only since 2018 has Berlin been part of the program. It forms part of two foreign visits with Rotterdam also a continual part of the calendar.

"I've played some really good stuff on the ProTour, and getting those wins under my belt has been massive for my confidence," claimed Bunting.
"I've been happy with my performances. My scoring has been really strong, but my doubles have let me down in certain moments and at this level, a game can switch on one mistake.
The Englishman is therefore eagerly looking forward to his duel with Aspinall and hopes to finally put a Premier League victory to his name. "I honestly cannot wait to get my first win, and with the confidence I've gained this week, I'm really looking forward to the game against Nathan tomorrow night.
He is also excited about playing in Germany, a country where he always gets a lot of support. "The atmosphere is going to be incredible. The fanbase I've got here in Germany is great, and it would be nice to give something back to them."
