The 2025 Premier League Darts continues this Thursday night in Berlin, where Night Nine will be completed. It is the start of the second half of the competition, with which the battle for a spot in the playoffs is increasingly approaching a conclusion.
Games will be played at the Uber Arena, which in recent years has been known as the Mercedes-Benz Arena. This playing venue is the newest in the list of playing cities where the Premier League Darts visits. Only since 2018 has Berlin been part of the program. That year, Michael Smith, Simon Whitlock, Gerwyn Price, Mensur Suljovic, Michael van Gerwen, Daryl Gurney, Rob Cross, Raymond van Barneveld, Peter Wright and Gary Anderson still competed in the prestigious darts competition. Only three of this group are now part of the lineup.

The playing venue in Berlin was where the final of the Premier League Darts was played in 2022. Then it was Michael van Gerwen who managed to win his sixth of seven Premier League titles. Joe Cullen then missed one matchdart to take the title, whereupon 'Mighty Mike' punished this miss harshly.
In 2023 and 2024, Berlin was part of regular competition. Jonny Clayton captured the weekly title in 2023 after wins over Michael van Gerwen (6-5), Gerwyn Price (6-4) and Michael Smith (6-4). Last year, Van Gerwen ran away with the weekly title by beating Nathan Aspinall (6-4), Michael Smith (6-5) and Luke Littler (6-5).
Nathan Aspinall v Stephen Bunting
Attempt nine for Stephen Bunting to finally accumulate his first points in this Premier League Darts. 'The Bullet' suffered his eighth consecutive defeat in Newcastle last week, although he couldn't do much about it. Bunting threw an average of 102.15, but was blown over by Littler who tapped an average of almost 110. Against Nathan Aspinall, Bunting will undoubtedly see more chances for a positive result.
On the other hand, Aspinall will also see opportunities to pick up important points again in the battle for a spot in the last four. 'The Asp' won over Michael van Gerwen in Newcastle last week, keeping the top four in his sights. With ten points, Aspinall is still in sixth place, but the gap to third place is only three points. With the numbers three and four playing each other in Berlin, Aspinall could have a good shot.
The two Englishmen met earlier this Premier League only in Brighton. Then Aspinall played his best match of this competition by beating Bunting 6-2 thanks to an average of 106.46. In the head-to-head, however, Bunting is still ahead 6-5.
Luke Humphries v Rob Cross
After three defeats in a row, there was another bright spot for Luke Humphries in the Premier League last week. 'Cool Hand Luke' made it to the final match in Newcastle, but had to leave the weekly title to Luke Littler. Humphries did, however, pick up three points for the league table and therefore still firmly holds the second spot. A win over number five Rob Cross would ensure that he puts a player just outside the top four even further behind.
Only two players have yet to reach a weekly final in this Premier League Darts. Besides the still scoreless Stephen Bunting, this is Rob Cross, who is nevertheless with 12 points narrowly outside a spot in the top four. That 'Voltage' is still so high is because he hardly ever loses his first match, but so far he has not once managed to win two matches on an evening. Cross will undoubtedly want to put an end to that in Berlin.
Cross boasts a remarkably good record against the world number one. Fourteen of the 24 previous encounters were won by the 2018 world champion. Four of the last five confrontations were also won by Cross. In this Premier League, the score is balanced: 1-1.
Chris Dobey v Luke Littler
Luke Littler is fast on his way to setting all kinds of records this Premier League Darts. After eight of 16 rounds of play, 'The Nuke' already stands at four weekly titles and a street length lead over his competitors. Never before has a player managed to win five weekly titles in one Premier League. So Littler still has eight rounds of play to set this record. Another record is also within reach. Last year, Littler threw 128 maximum scores in the entire league phase, which then set a Premier League record. Halfway through this competition, the 18-year-old teenage sensation already stands at 102. If Littler continues his current streak, the previous record of two hundred 180-scores could be just around the corner.
Chris Dobey could be the next victim of the reigning world champion. Halfway through the competition we can conclude that it is going to be a very tough task for 'Hollywood' to make the playoffs. With only five points, Dobey is already seven points behind for a virtual spot in the top four and a defeat against Littler will probably increase this gap. So Dobey can afford few more missteps.
It is the fifth time Dobey has been allowed to take on Littler. In the head-to-head, the score is 3-1 in favor of Littler, who won the only previous Premier League encounter 6-5.
Michael van Gerwen v Gerwyn Price
The topper of this round is between Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price, numbers three and four in the standings. The difference between these two players in the rankings is only one point, offering Van Gerwen a good opportunity to give a direct competitor a thumping in the battle for the playoffs. In the event of a defeat against Price, 'Mighty Mike' will be sucked further into the middle of the Premier League, with the top two possibly further out of sight.
Van Gerwen lost to Aspinall in his first match last week, which was only his second defeat in a quarterfinal. After last week's defeat to Cross, Price is already on five scoreless rounds of play, but 'The Iceman' can counter that with two weekly titles, unlike the Dutchman.
Price and Van Gerwen have both already won once from each other in this Premier League. In the mutual balance, Van Gerwen still has a huge lead over his Welsh rival. Van Gerwen already has 36 wins to his credit, while Price has won sixteen times from 'Mighty Mike'.
A unique aspect of the Premier League is that a separate tournament is played each week of play, with the winner receiving an additional £10,000. This means that a player who manages to win multiple weeks of play can boost his prize money considerably. Since the league lasts for 16 weeks, an additional total of £160,000 can be distributed to the winners of these nights of play.
With performances, players also earn points for the Premier League standings. The winner of a weekly tournament receives five points, while the losing finalist takes home three points. Semi-finalists keep two points and players who lose their opening match go home scoreless.
