World Grand Prix set to move from Citywest in Dublin

The PDC World Grand Prix will not take place at the Citywest for the first time in 18 years due to the HSE holding a lease on the hotel for isolation until late October.

This means that with the World Grand Prix set to take place on 4-10 October that it will have to be moved. “The HSE licence agreement, in respect of both the Citywest Hotel and convention centre, runs to the 22nd of October 2020 and as such the HSE will be in occupation during the period 4-10 October,” the HSE told RTÉ Sport.

This was foreseen for some time with the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay also cancelled; PDC chief executive Matt Porter told RTÉ Sport that this has now been confirmed; as well as that a new venue is being sought:

"We are aware of the situation at Citywest in relation to our planned dates for the 2020 BoyleSports World Grand Prix.

"We are currently working with the relevant parties with a view to retaining the event's October dates at a new venue, and details will be confirmed in due course once finalised."

It is understood that with quarantine measures still in place between the UK and Ireland that it will likely be held in the UK this time around. Depending on dates, it could end up at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
