Dave Chisnall’s striking yellow shirt has long been a familiar part of his presence on the oche. Yet it seems that “Chizzy” may soon step out with a completely new look, though it remains to be seen how serious he actually is about that prospect.
“Can I wear that?”
In a recent interview with Tungsten Tales, the Englishman revealed that his management team and sponsor recently teased him about finally switching shirts. They even floated a bold and, in Chisnall’s own words, “horrible” design. “To be fair, that's from my manager and from Dart Gear Competitions,” Chisnall said with a smile. “They put it on Twitter and I just said: 'Wow... Can I wear that?'"
Although he immediately labelled the shirt as “terrible,” the thrower did not rule out the design actually appearing on stage one day. “I could wear it, that's the person I am," he laughs. "But, it's horrendous. It might come out soon... Mr Motivator."
The nickname Chisnall refers to seems to hint at a brightly colored and eye-catching design, inspired by the flamboyant fitness personality Mr Motivator. Whether fans will take to it remains to be seen.
Dave Chisnall is currently 24th in the world rankings
For now it appears to be mostly a joke, but in darts, where players are increasingly experimenting with their look, nothing is off the table. Should Chisnall actually turn up in a new shirt, it would undoubtedly spark plenty of reactions from fans and fellow pros.
In any case, the truth is that
Chisnall could also use fresh impetus in any form for his career. The 45-year-old Englishman, a long-time fixture in the world’s top 16, has now slipped to 24th in the
PDC Order of Merit. His last ranking title dates back to 2024, a much longer wait than a player of Chisnall’s undoubted quality has normally had to endure.
