The second semi-final is confirmed at the Austrian Darts Championship and what a prospect it is with Peter Wright set to face off against Michael van Gerwen.
Wright in the first Quarter-Final held his nerve to deny home hero Rowby-John Rodriguez to move through in a closely fought tie.
It began like that with 'Little John' taking out 120 to break throw and level with Wright at 2-2. 'Snakebite' though hit the front again at 3-2 up with a 81 checkout; while Rodriguez stayed in touch holding his throw.
He made it parity by breaking again to make it 4-4 but Wright went back in front again to go one away. He had problems closing the tie off with him missing two match darts and Rodriguez sent it the distance. It was Wright though who claimed the victory in the end to deny the Austrian ace.
Van Gerwen on the other hand stormed into the Semi-Finals with a 6-0 victory with a 106 average and 66 percent on the doubles.
He started with that average when he coasted into a 3-0 lead making a flying start. He extended that lead to 4-0 to make it 4/6 on the doubles to continue his flawless display.
From there, the Kettering ace had no answers to Mighty Mike's prowess with him moving through to the semi-finals where a tie against best friend, Vincent van der Voort could await.
