Wright battles back to edge past Cross and claim vital Premier League win

Peter Wright reeled off four consecutive legs from the brink at 5-3 down to see off Rob Cross 7-5 in what could be a vital win for 'Snakebite' to conclude the first block of Premier League action in his case.

Wright averaged 101 and hit five 180's despite puzzling darts fans with new darts being used once again but it worked in his favour against 'Voltage' who has had a great start to this year's tournament.

Cross went 2-0 up after breaking throw immediately taking out 118 in the process and it was another ton plus to make it 3-1 in the form of a 102 as he attempted to hammer home his early advantage.

But Wright moved to one away again with a 96 checkout and it was soon parity with a 12-darter on double 10.

Cross regained his break of throw with a 58 checkout to make it 4-3 and an 11-darter attempted to throw the tie in favour of 'Voltage' at 5-3 up.

But Wright came into his own going one behind again and making it 5-5 to set up a tense conclusion after Cross missed chances for the point. He broke back and an 11-darter followed as suddenly Wright made sure of a point.

This was concluded from there with Wright leaving 60 which he took out for another break and the win as a result in what could be a pivotal two points.
