Aspinall survives match dart en route to securing draw against Van Gerwen in high quality Premier League tie

Nathan Aspinall will be relieved to have claimed a point against Michael van Gerwen after a quality display from 'The Asp' who survived a match dart en route to a 6-6 draw.

In a quality match, Aspinall averaged 105.38 and 66% on the doubles to Van Gerwen's 99.7 but despite that, it was Mighty Mike who had the opportunity to take both points before the Stockport ace salvaged a well deserved draw.

Van Gerwen started with a showpiece effort pinning 100 with two double 20 to head into the lead but Aspinall responded with a 121 checkout to make it 1-1.

MVG was at it again smashing in a 148 checkout to make it 2-1 but Aspinall responded with double 18 to claim parity at 2-2 in an entertaining start to the clash.

Van Gerwen held his throw from there and went 4-2 up with a break despite Aspinall averaging around the 106 mark compared to mid 90's from Mighty Mike.

Aspinall wouldn't lie down though and broke back to make it 4-3 immediately with a 96 checkout and it was parity again at 4-4.

He applied the pressure in the requisite leg with a maximum but Van Gerwen went 5-4 up and secured a point from there at 6-5.

But Aspinall got his reward in the form of a point but only after surviving a match dart from the Green Machine.
