Peter Wright is the latest player through to the semi-finals at the Players Championship Finals after defeating Michael Smith in an epic.
Wright reeled off six straight legs from 6-4 down to defeat Smith in a 10-6 win which saw the former average 101 and the latter 102 with them both hitting seven 180's.
It was a frenetic start to the tie with Wright taking the opening leg followed by Smith firing in a 180 and a 136 checkout for 1-1.
But Wright fired ahead with back-to-back legs to make it 3-1. Smith though returned to the foray with a 105 checkout to trail 4-3.
He claimed five consecutive legs from there to suddenly lead 6-4, this included a wired nine-darter on double 12. He sat though well with a 107 average, four 180's and 6/7 on the doubles.
Wright stopped the rot with double 10 to reduce the deficit to 6-5 and it was his turn to claim consecutive legs with four in all with a 101 checkout finishing it off to claim an 8-6 lead.
It was six in the end as he went all the way to the finishing line to conclude an epic.
