Peter Wright is into the Quarter-Finals of the 2020 PDC World Championship after defeating Jeffrey de Zwaan in a darting epic at the Alexandra Palace.

Wright was 3-0 up and seemingly cruising towards victory but as he buckled De Zwaan began to find his feet and chipped away at 'Snakebite', it went all the way to a tie break but it was the former who claimed the victory as a result producing some brilliant darts.
Wright claimed the first set in a deciding leg taking out 72 after a second 180 in order to seal it with a 96 average and 60 percent on the doubles with 'Snakebite' recovering to claim it after being 2-0 up initially.
In the next set, he claimed a potentially integral break smashing in a 149 checkout to go one away from going two sets up in the early going. He raced through it with a 25 checkout to go half-way to a brilliant victory.
He raced to a 2-0 lead again after De Zwaan had missed further darts at doubles to take the lead himself; Wright as a result pounced all over it and went towards going one away from the finishing line. He sweeped the set with a 100 checkout; as he continued to dish out the punishment to the Dutchman.
De Zwaan started the next set leaving double 20 from a 140; Wright smashed in the shot known as the baby fish, the 130 smashing in the bullseye. He added to that with a 76 checkout to go one away from victory.
De Zwaan pegged a leg back and extended the contest further smashing in an 80 checkout to make it 2-2; he claimed the set from there.
He claimed another set to seriously ask the question of Wright as he piled on the pressure on 'Snakebite'. It had gone from De Zwaan to being on the brink of elimination; to on the brink of bringing it level again.
He expertly left 40 to begin the next set and hit it to go 1-0 up and towards levelling it up. Wright had a shot at 130 but couldn't hit the requisite treble to get the shot and it was double four for De Zwaan to go one away.
A stunning 122 checkout from Wright though forced a decider but it was one that De Zwaan despite Wright having the opportunity to win stole on double eight making it 3-3.
Wright was left on 122 but couldn't hit double seven on his own throw and as a result De Zwaan punished to break. Wright though broke back on double 16.
He went one away after holding his throw and De Zwaan could not find a treble. The Dutchman though produced a double four after Wright had missed a 156 checkout.
Wright missed an 87 checkout but De Zwaan could not hit a 140 checkout allowing the former to put himself in front again. De Zwaan tied it up with a brilliant six checkout to send it further.
De Zwaan left himself on 162 again and Wright could hold with ease on double six. A timely 140 in the latter half of the leg saw Wright leave 86 for the win and De Zwaan left himself a poor 122, the latter was given a shot but couldn't convert missing the bull and Wright pinned 25 for the victory.
