Glen Durrant has moved through to the Quarter-Finals at the 2020 PDC World Championship defeating Chris Dobey in a 4-3 win in what was billed as a North East Derby beforehand.

It flattered to deceive at times; but it was Durrant who hit four 180's, 39 percent on the doubles including high checkouts of 146 and 109 en route to move through on his debut in the PDC World Championship.
Dobey made a good start proceedings; as he took out 68 for an immediate break of throw and followed it up with a 110 checkout to double his lead before concluding it to go 1-0 up.
Durrant though responded in kind easing past the next set 3-0 without reply to level the contest up. Dobey was back at the hilt though breaking in the next set; after Durrant had missed darts at double and he missed darts for a whitewash set; but he had the throw in the final leg to go 2-1 up.
Dobey had more darts to claim it; Durrant ended up hitting double four to suddenly put the set the other way.
He left 36 and Dobey missed bull for a 132, as a result he pinned it first time to go 2-1 up. Again in the requisite set, Dobey established a 2-0 lead; but the doubts would start to creep in and this was right as Durrant forced a decider.
It was a decider that he won as he took out 109 in the deciding leg to stretch his lead out to 3-1 in sets. In the next set, Dobey kept it alive taking out 64 to break throw; he held on double 20 to go one set behind.
Durrant and Dobey just didn't want to hit the double and despite having multiple chances, Durrant could not break throw and Dobey held to go 1-0 up.
The former was back on top of the doubles hitting 74 for 1-1; it continued in this vein as Dobey hit the front again to show his real grit and determination.
Two 180's in the same leg saw Dobey force a deciding set with him finishing it up with a 41 checkout. Durrant started the finer of the two claiming the first two legs; including a break of throw to put him within a leg of the win; which he secured with a brilliant 146 checkout.
