Peter Wright is the first player through to the Grand Slam of Darts final after defeating Glen Durrant in the semi-finals in Wolverhampton.

It was a match full of missed doubles with 11/41 missed by Durrant, Wright in particular missed 16/41; meaning it was a game fraught by missed darts; but it was 'Snakebite' who produced when it mattered with a 97.5 average winning 16-11.

Wright was excellent to start the tie off going into the first interval; with a 4-1 lead; with a 94 average and 33 percent on the doubles to what was an 87 average for Durrant and 1/12 on the doubles.

The Teesside ace ended his run of missed doubles by hitting double seven to trail 4-2; after Wright himself had missed some.

Wright went further ahead with an 11-darter and a 5-2 advantage. Durrant though went to just behind again with a brilliant 115 checkout to break throw and go 5-4 behind.

He had fully reversed the damage by the next interval as he made it 5-5 winning four out of the last five legs to level the contest.

Durrant was at 19 missed darts at doubles in the match as he squandered more and Wright was allowed to go back to 6-5 up.

Durrant restored parity at 6-6 but Wright went three clear from there at 9-6 up. Durrant followed up a 180 when they returned from the break; with a 143 checkout sealing him another leg to make it 7-9.

Wright squandered five darts at doubles and this allowed Durrant to grab a reprieve on double eight to make it 9-8. Durrant wired darts to make it level; Wright cleaned up a 68 checkout to make it 10-8.

Wright forged an 11-8 lead as he hit a 65 checkout on tops; he went into the break despite a staggering 27 missed darts at doubles so far 12-8 up.

Durrant continued to find the red bit but despite that, Wright took out 101 to make it 13-8. 'Snakebite' from there smashed in an excellent 155 checkout to move 14-9 ahead but Durrant hit back to back legs to close the gap to 14-11.

Wright though had a late surge from there not giving Durrant another opportunity to get back into the tie.
