Peter Wright knocked out one of the tournament favourites in Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals of the 2020 PDC World Championship as he reaches the final for the second time in his career.
Wright will take on a familiar foe in the final in Michael van Gerwen who has been the difference in him winning multiple major titles and he will hope he can defeat him in the biggest final of them all.
They faced off previously in the 2014 final and Wright admits that it has no bearing and that he didn't feel 'ready' to become World Champion back then.
He added that after criticism about his previous performances against Van Gerwen in finals that there is no issue there with getting over the line even though he admits himself he should have got over the line previously.
"Tonight I was missing doubles at crucial times and kept letting him in but thankfully I stopped giving him chances in the end," said Wright.
"I'm older and wiser than I was six years ago, I didn't feel ready to be World Champion then but I do now.
"There's no mental block against Michael, even though I should've beaten him in a few finals.
"I told him a few weeks ago that we would meet in the final of the World Championship and it's come true.
"I'm not thinking too much about what it would mean to be World Champion, I'm just going to go up there and play my game like I have been doing all tournament and we'll see who wins."
