The two matches that were billed as the must watch on Saturday night at the German Darts Championship have very much delivered.
Peter Wright who was after Michael van Gerwen sent a message to the World Number One with a 106.7 average and three 180's as well as 66% on his doubles in a tough first assignment against Michael Smith.
While Devon Petersen got a measure of revenge for missing out on his first title at the PDC Autumn Series with victory over Gerwyn Price who seems to bring the best out of 'The African Warrior.
It was a sensational fightback from Petersen who came from 5-1 down to dump out the in-form Welshman in a 6-5 win with a 102.6 average in a match which included eleven 180's.
Price got out of the blocks early with a 110 and 140 checkout to begin the tie and go 2-0 up and he surged away from there. Petersen though produced the aforementioned brilliant comeback.
A pivotal leg in which Petersen hit a 12 darter to make it 5-4 and break the throw of Price saw him bring himself right back into a foray.
A 140 and 180 saw him well ahead on his own throw and he pinned double nine to force a decider and despite Petersen missing two darts to win, he made no mistake the third time to dump Price out and claim a brilliant win.
In and amongst all of that was also a brilliant display from Krzysztof Ratajski who produced a performance akin to 'The Polish Eagle' with a 97.8 average and 60% on the doubles in seeing off Richard North who became the latest player to miss double 12 for a nine darter. It was the former though who soared into the next round.
