Wright produces brilliance against Anderson, Jenkins stuns Cross and Van Barneveld edges past Clayton

The first round of action is complete at Players Championship 25 with some big wins for the likes of Andy Jenkins, Raymond van Barneveld and Mervyn King.

Jenks has proved he's back continuing his stellar year which has seen him establish himself as one of the top names on the Challenge Tour and he stunned Rob Cross today in the opening round.

He did so by producing a 111 checkout to edge past the birthday boy in a deciding leg victory and the Hampshire ace will hope for a deep run today.

As will Mervyn King who did his hopes of a World Grand Prix spot a world of good with victory over Yordi Meeuwisse. Jose de Sousa though defeated Kirk Shepherd to keep breathing down 'The King's neck.

Peter Wright also produced some brilliance to see off Gary Anderson in a brilliant opening round. Both players threatened a nine-dart finish but it was Wright who came through to see off his World Cup partner.
