Peter Wright is through to the Last 16 at the 2020 PDC World Championship but had to work hard to defeat Seigo Asada 4-2.

Wright put his struggles down to the heat though saying that he only changed his darts due to the heat and nothing else and said that he will be going back to the darts he used in his first game next up.

"I'm relieved but annoyed at how I played. I played absolute rubbish but it's a W but I'll take it," said Wright to LiveDarts in the press conference after the game.

"I didn't settle at all. The heat on the stage was bending my darts, I had it in my Matchplay because my darts are too light. I'm lucky I got through that and I'll go back to the darts I used in the first round for next round because I have more control."

On his next match he was fired up saying: "Jeffrey, I won't be playing like that again so you'll have to up your game! The heat could have affected Chizzy's darts, I'll have to deal with Jeffrey as he beat me in the European when I wasn't playing well, I'll be playing well this time."

"I played him in a floor tournament before and I absolutely battered him, he didn't know which way I was coming or going, he's going to have the same again."
