Wright set to miss World Series triple header in Australia and New Zealand

While the World Series of Darts will finally return to Australia and New Zealand next month, Peter Wright will not be involved with ‘Snakebite’ withdrawing due to ongoing gallstones issues.

Wright will now be replaced by back-to-back winner in Copenhagen and Amsterdam in Dimitri van den Bergh at the Queensland Darts Masters, New South Wales Darts Masters and NZ Darts Masters in a set of tournaments which also include Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Joe Cullen and Jonny Clayton among others.

"I'm devastated to have to miss the visits to Australia and New Zealand but after further medical checks I have to put my health first," said Wright.

"I was really looking forward to finally getting to Australia and New Zealand and being introduced Down Under as the reigning World Champion in front of all the great fans there.

"I'll be doing everything I can to retain the World Championship and be back there next year instead!"
