Wright changing lifestyle to combat gallstones: "There isn’t any time on the calendar to have it removed"

Peter Wright lost out to William O'Connor who reached the semi-finals of the UK Open over the weekend but for 'Snakebite' who also become World Number One, he was combatting other issues with the return of gallstones.

Wright said that it's difficult being a dart player and changing lifestyle due to the late nights.

"I've started to eat a bit more healthier as well as trying to cut out the butter especially on crumpets, it's not good for you," he joked to Oche.

"It's hard being a dart player, by the time you've finished late at night, you can't get no decent food that's good for you. You're not going to order just a salad from a kebab shop are you."

But it is something he will do due to it working before when he has previously had that issue.

"I tried it before when I had gallstones and it worked so fingers crossed that works because there isn’t any time on the calendar to have it removed."

This of course affected him with Wright close to pulling out of his opening game but he got through it and he will hope he can get through the pain barrier once more.

"It was horrible. I didn't want to play the first game. I sat there for over an hour crouched, I couldn't even stand up. It's like do I pull out."
