Living legend Paul Lim continues to dazzle at the WDF World Championship with the Singapore Slinger seeing off Gary Stone 3-2 to end a dramatic night of action at Lakeside which saw tournament favourite Jimmy van Schie fall. 34 years on from his last, he is into the Quarter-Finals.

This impacts Lim as he will now face Jarno Bottenberg for a spot in the Semi-Finals of the WDF World Championship. The 70-year-old looked like his run was going to end at the hands of Stone but he found a way in the deciding set to see off the Scot which was always going to struggle for rhythm with the pace of Lim.

Stone made a strong start to the tie but he was still narrowly usurped in the opening set as Lim won the first set producing finishes of 90 and 96 to take it 3-2. Stone though managed to level it up firing in an 11-darter before taking out 70 in the deciding leg and he led from there going one set away from the finish.

Albeit this is where he started to falter. He went 2-1 up winning the third set 3-0 with legs of 14, 16 and 18 darts. Lim though returned with his scoring boots going on with six 180's at that point winning the fourth set 3-0 to take it to a last set shootout.

But it was one Lim dominated as he went 2-0 up quickly. Stone couldn't get a shot at 118 to stay in the match and Lim took aim at 60 to seal the win with the Scot also waiting to keep himself in the tie. The rock solid Singapore Slinger is through as is another story from the ladies draw as Sophie McKinlay continues her run.

McKinlay took out Lisa Ashton last round and this time it was a player returning to the Lakeside stage in Irina Armstrong. The Russian-born German had not played at the World Championship for nine-years and is a former World Championship semi-finalist.

She has had a renaissance late into her career after seeming to fade away but it is the time of the 18-year-old who continues to make her mark and set up a clash with Aileen de Graaf in the Quarter-Finals.

Armstrong took the opening set 3-2 after a high quality start with an 88 checkout. But McKinlay took a lot of solace from sealing the second set 3-2. Armstrong started to miss and each time, McKinlay took advantage to sweep the final set 3-0 and move through. Not as good as her last round but still very much showcasing her talents continually on her debut.
