Carl Wilkinson continues to impress at
Lakeside, while Jitka Cisarova has made history at the tournament with her victory on Tuesday afternoon.
Wilkinson who is a former PDC Tour Card holder has shared that he has little desire to return to the pro ranks and instead wants to play for his country and county. But he has showed that the form is very much still there that propelled him into the top 128.
Wilkinson breezed past Benjamin Pratnemer leaving the Slovenian little to no chance of forging a fightback. He is yet to drop a set this tournament and sealed the win 3-0 to move into the Last 16.
It was a strong start from Wilkinson who swept the opening set converting a fourth dart to seal the opener against the eighth seed. But the doubles continued to be a problem for Pratnemer as Wilkinson punished him taking out 83 in two darts to double his lead. It was a clean sweep as he sealed the final set 3-0. Pratnemer couldn't take his chances and Wilkinson hit double 18 to hold throw. He then sealed a 92 checkout to double his lead and break the throw of Pratnemer.
Missing 135 for the match, he pinned double 12 to seal it with Pratnemer only able to whittle his score down to 108 in case Wilkinson missed.
While Cisarova made Czech history in her win over Desi Mercer. She becomes the first Czech player to reach the Quarter-Finals at the Lakeside.
It was near perfect for her too as she won three on the spin to take the first set after losing the first and only lost one leg in the entire match.
A great start for Cisarova. Albeit she will likely face a lot tougher opposition in the next round. She faces likely Beau Greaves who will face Kirsi Viinikainen tonight for a spot in the semi-finals and with only a 66 average likely has to up it in order to compete with the favourite for the title.
