Connor Scutt and Beau Greaves took the titles on Saturday at the singles tournaments of the WDF Denmark Open. Because this tournament has gold status on the WDF calendar, Scutt immediately qualified for the WDF World Championship as a result. Greaves, of course, already was.
Scutt won the men's tournament by defeating Patrick Heinsoe (4-2), Ole Jorgensen (4-0), Benjamin Pratnemer (4-1), Ben Hazel (4-2), Brian Lokken (4-1), Brian Raman (4-3), Mark Graham (5-3) and Jimmy van Schie (6-1).
Greaves lived up to her favorite women's role by dealing with Merete Kjaer (4-0), Janni Larsen (4-0), Anna Forsmark (4-0), Adriana van Wijgerden-Vermaat (4-0), Noa-Lynn van Leuven (4-0) and Lorraine Hyde (5-2). There was a notable moment earlier in the tournament, as Deta Hedman decided to withdraw prior to her match against Van Leuven. Hedman is known to be an ardent opponent of transgender participation in women's tournaments.
