Deta Hedman refuses to play transgender Noa-Lynn van Leuven and forfeits game at Denmark Open

Deta Hedman caused a commotion at the WDF Denmark Open in Esbjerg by withdrawing prior to her match against Noa-Lynn van Leuven.

The two players should have faced each other in the quarterfinals of the WDF tournament. However, Hedman is known as an ardent opponent of the admission of transgender players on the women's circuit. To underline her opinion, she decided not to play a match against the Dutch player.

Hedman has repeatedly called on the various darts associations (PDC and WDF) to stop giving Van Leuven access to women's tournaments. The 64-year-old believes there is no longer a level playing field.

Last week, Hedman openly doubted her future at the PDC Women's Series hinting at this due to Van Leuven playing. ''Always said I would stop playing when the enjoyment has gone from playing, think the present issues with the ladies game that time is getting closer."
