Neil Duff impressed in his 2022 WDF
Lakeside World Championship opener seeing off Justin Thompson to begin proceedings delivering on his promise that he would win 3-0 with 'The Duffman' set for the latter stages.
"I'm over the moon, I think Thommo made it easy for me. I look back on it and see what I done and what I didn't do. Last set I think I fell asleep, I think I was already in the bar celebrating. I had to put myself together again but got the job done but listen I'm here for a long time, I'm here to kick in," said Duff to Tungsten Tales.
Debut
It is his Lakeside debut at the World Championship and he revealed the reason for that not happening.
"Up until now I haven't been doing the tour, we can get a Masters place through regional so I think I've played 17 World Masters. I could have made it here a couple of years ago and I made it here the year the Masters was played here. I'm looking forward to Thursday when it's going to get busier."
He also was bullish in his mood about the tournament with an 18th birthday present for his daughter firmly in his sights.
"If anybody comes here and they don't have their sights set on the World title, they shouldn't be here at all. I came here to win it, I've been playing the darts of my life the past six months."
