Menzies and De Graaf through at 2022 WDF Lakeside World Championship as reigning World Champions dumped out in quick succession

Both reigning World Champions have been dumped out at the 2022 WDF Lakeside World Championship in quick succession with Cameron Menzies and Aileen de Graaf sailing through.

Menzies produced an incredible display averaging 87 in the process to dump out the final BDO World Champion, Wayne Warren in a 3-0 straight sets triumph.

Menzies took out double 20 to double his lead early on against Warren despite some doubling woes between them. Warren held throw to make it 2-1. A 171 and double four saw Menzies seal the opening set.

Warren was broken to begin the second set. Menzies broke back from there to make it 1-1 and he sealed the set after Warren missed darts to take it all the way. A 62 checkout saw Menzies lead the third set.

Menzies went 2-1 up with a break and was one away from the win. Warren broke back with a 61 checkout to suddenly throw for the set himself. But Menzies hit double eight to seal the win.

While Mikuru Suzuki's dominant run at the Lakeside has concluded with 'The Miracle' being dumped out by Aileen de Graaf who will look to achieve her undoubted potential this week.

Suzuki began De Graaf’s throw with a 180 but the Dutchwoman held with a 58 checkout and Suzuki also held albeit with break darts going begging for De Graaf.

De Graaf couldn’t pin 103 for a hold of throw and Suzuki hit double 18 to break and go one away from the opening set. A 74 checkout saw Suzuki seal it.

De Graaf though broke and consolidated to begin set two as she looked to level which she sealed on double 10. She hit double 20 to hold and went one away with Suzuki unable to take out 67. Suzuki missed 70 and De Graaf returned for double 16.
