Luke Littler's 2022 WDF Lakeside campaign has come to an end after a demolition job from Richard Veenstra who taught the 15-year-old a darting lesson.

He broke the average record with 104.91 in a 3-0 win and is the first through to the Quarter-Finals with Brian Raman or Jarred Cole set to be the next in 'Flyers' path.

In sealing the average record, he usurps the record of 103.83 which has stood for 18 years and was hit by Raymond van Barneveld as the record went from one Dutchman to another.

To begin the tie, Veenstra hit double 20 to break throw and lead. A 121 checkout was missed by Littler but he returned with Veenstra way back and broke throw to draw level.

A 164 on the bull saw Veenstra break again to break at 2-1 and hit double 12 to seal the opening set. Littler hit a 180 but Veenstra broke throw still.

Veenstra hit a 180 and followed that up with an 81 checkout to go one away from a 2-0 sets lead. He hit a 177 and a 90 checkout to win the set.

A 57 checkout started with a break for Veenstra and followed it up with a 68 checkout to go one away and hit a 121 checkout to seal it.

This was after Scott Marsh produced an epic display against James Richardson which will be an afterthought in a history making evening with a 90 average, four 180's and a 128 checkout along the way.

A 67 checkout saw Marsh seal an opening hold. An 80 checkout saw him go one away. Richardson hit a 180 at a pivotal time and broke back on double 16.

But Marsh missed six darts for the set and Richardson sent it all the way and he hit 87 to seal it. Both produced 180’s but it was Richardson who carried on his brilliance with a 75 checkout.

Marsh levelled up on double 20 and sealed the set with a 100 checkout just using 19’s. A 100 checkout saw Marsh go one away from a 2-1 sets lead which he claimed without reply.

Richardson went 2-0 up with a 48 checkout to go away from a decider. A 128 checkout saw Marsh break back. He hit two maximums but failed on the doubles and Richardson returned for the set to send it all the way.

An 80 checkout saw Marsh lead 1-0 but Richardson hit double one to level. Marsh missed 116 to go one away but hit double 10 to hold. A 62 checkout saw Marsh seal it.
