Lex Paeshuyse is one of the all-time great talents in youth and is predicted to have a particularly great future. The barely 13-year-old Belgian already won the WDF World Masters in youth last year and also became world champion at the Junior Darts Corporation (JDC). At the Dutch Open Darts last weekend, however, he suffered a disappointment with a quick elimination in the last 32 of the junior tournament.
Paeshuyse competed in the junior tournament for players under 18 at the Dutch Open Darts last weekend. He reached the last 32 with two 3-0 victories, but there he lost to his compatriot Oden Ollevier. Paeshuyse stuck to an average of 68.19 and went down 3-1. Paeshuyse was particularly disappointed with his poor doubles percentage and his disappointment was great afterwards;
Less day
"Back on the road home," we could read on his Facebook page. "Today was a down day, but even those are part of the road you want to go down. Winning is nice, but losing makes you stronger and the drive greater. The pressure on your shoulders is great. When winning, it is sometimes taken for granted while you also have to work for every match. But hey little fries of ours, you too are allowed to have a down day. You too have played to win, but if it doesn't work out at that moment, that's totally okay. In the end you lost to the later finalist. Dear Oden, how phenomenally proud we all are of you. Strongly done. Thank you to everyone who supported for our Lex both there present and from a distance."
Ollevier, who is a year older than Paeshuyse, made it to the final by the way. There he eventually lost 4-2 to Dutchman Bradley Van Der Velden.
