Gerwyn Price is through to the final at the World Series of Darts Finals after producing an unbelievable display to see off Peter Wright.
Price won through in an 11-6 victory with a 102.5 average to book his place in the final, defying an average of 108 with nine 180’s and 50% on doubles as ‘The Iceman’ proved unplayable at times.
Price was excellent in the opening part of the match going 4-1 up at the first interval with a 101 average and 4/4 on the doubles.
Wright returned and hit a 130 checkout to trail 4-2 with a 103.8 average but despite a fourth 180 from Wright, Price pinned double 16 to move 5-2 ahead.
At the break, Wright was 6-4 behind but averaging 108 with six 180’s to Price’s 104 in a terrific standard being set. Successive legs saw Price go 8-4 up including 102 to break.
Price made it three in a row as he hit double 10 to go 9-4 ahead as he aimed to surge into the distance. Wright stopped the rot but despite a 180 to pressure in the next leg a 100 checkout with two double 20’s saw Price go one away.
A 13-darter saw Wright kept in proceedings but a 76 checkout saw Price win through to the final.
