Peter Wright is the first player through to the semis at the
World Series of Darts Finals after an excellent display to see off
Daryl Gurney.
Wright got four 180’s and a 100 average en route as the World Champion aims to add another title later today.
Wright produced a strong start to proceedings opening up a 2-0 lead while also averaging 102.
Gurney finally got off the mark at 3-1 down pinning a 13 darter for a hold of throw. He continued in that vein by taking a break hitting an 85 checkout on the bull to trail 3-2.
He levelled up but Wright stopped the rot going 4-3 ahead. Gurney missed a dart at the bull and this allowed Wright to extend that to 5-3.
Gurney came back though with an 87 checkout on the bull making it 5-4.
A pivotal part of the match was to come though as Wright went into the break at 6-4 up and returned continuing his form and going one away from a 9-4 win.
Gurney ended a run of four straight legs to make it 9-5 but this proved little more than a consolation as Wright concluded the tie 10-5.
