Adams withdraws from World Seniors Matchplay; Hedman replaces 'Wolfie'

Martin Adams will not compete in the World Seniors Darts Matchplay in York this weekend. The organization of the senior tournament reports that 'Wolfie' has withdrawn due to personal reasons.

The reason for his cancellation is easy to guess. Earlier this month, Adams' partner Leigh passed away. Adams, winner of three Lakeside titles, was married to his former wife Sharon for 34 years. That relationship broke down in 2013. Leigh was then his new life partner.

Deta Hedman will take the place of Adams. The 63-year-old Englishwoman will take on Kevin Painter in the first round of the World Seniors Matchplay on Saturday.
