The WSDT announced Monday night the draw for the 2024 World Seniors Darts Championship. In it, Phil Taylor was paired with Manfred Bilderl, the first-ever German player at the senior World Championship.
For Taylor, it will be his very last World Championship appearance. 'The Power' announced earlier that he will definitely stop playing professional darts after 2024. After four Lakeside appearances and 25 PDC World Championship appearances, Taylor will now play his third senior World Championship. However, a senior world title is still missing from his record.
The previous two editions of the senior World Championship were won by Robert Thornton. The Scot faces off with Martyn Turner in the first round. His biggest challenger is Leonard Gates, who currently holds the other three televised tournaments at the WSDT.
Andy Hamilton will make his tournament debut against Tony O'Shea, while John Henderson will also make his debut at Circus Tavern in Purfleet. He will meet Trina Gulliver in the opening round. Kevin Painter will meet Jim McEwan, while Martin Adams will start his tournament against Deta Hedman.
Another interesting draw is Terry Jenkins and Paul Hogan. Three-time Lakeside semifinalist Darryl Fitton will battle Chris Mason, and Glen Durrant will meet Mark Dudbridge. A meeting with Richie Howson awaits John Part, while former world champions Keith Deller and Richie Burnett will also face each other.
The third edition of the World Seniors Darts Championship is scheduled from Feb. 15 to 18. As in previous years, the tournament will be played at Circus Tavern in Purfleet. This playing venue hosted the PDC World Championship from 1994 through 2007.
