Phil Taylor recently announced that he will continue to play darts for one more year. The now 63-year-old Englishman is doing so on the World Seniors Darts Tour (WSDT).
Taylor, a 16-time world champion, retired from the PDC in 2018. In recent years, however, he has returned to action in the seniors. But he will now quit that, too. “I’ll always love performing to the best of my ability and I do still have that eye for it, but time waits for no man and I know now is the right time to step away and let someone else have a go," 'The Power' recently announced.
Still, Taylor does not feel like sitting still too much. For example, he would like to follow in the footsteps of the late, great
Eric Bristow and participate in the well-known British TV program 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' which airs on ITV.
“I did an interview with them [the show's producers] a few years ago," Taylor recalls. "But at the time I couldn't possibly have done it because of the World Championships and tournaments that were around. Now I would. I would jump at the chance."
One of the contestants this year, is well-known British politician Nigel Farage. "I think Nigel’s done brilliantly, he’s come in and everyone seems to like Nigel, not just me but the general public themselves. If you want to stick a tenner bet on, put it on Nigel. He’s done well."
The two also seem to click politically. “Nigel Farage is good at politics. I like him. I'd vote for him if he was Prime Minister, trust me," he continued. “Seriously, he’s honest. That's what I like but he doesn't pull any punches. He says it's how it is and that's what I love about him."
