Richie Howson has already made quite a name for himself in a short time on the World Seniors Darts Tour. For now, however, he has been unable to cross the illusive winning line.
Indeed, Howson was in the final of both the World Seniors Darts Championship and Champion of Champions this year but was defeated by Robert Thornton and Leonard Gates respectively in the finals.
For the
World Seniors Darts Masters this weekend, 'The Owl' is once again thought of as a dark horse for overall victory.
“Yeah, it’s a lot of pressure, everyone keeps saying this one’s you’re one. But to be honest, it’s difficult just to get to the Final let alone thinking you’re going to win it," he tells Darts World. "As I said there is no reason why I can’t win this one and there is going to be a lot of good players standing in the way, so you’ve got to take it one game at a time and try you’re best really.”
Howson will play Bob Anderson in the first round of the World Seniors Darts Masters, possibly playing his last match then. The 75-year-old Englishman will end his professional career after the tournament. Howson has great respect for the legendary 'Limestone Cowboy'.
“Bob is a proper legend; he’s done so much for darts over the years and it’s going to be sad seeing him play in his last tournament. He’s done himself proud over the years.”
