Welshman Derek Coulson is into the semi-finals of the 2025 World Seniors Darts Championship at the iconic Circus Tavern in Purfleet. Taking a 3-1 victory over the defending Seniors World Champion John Henderson, Coulson's fairy-tale run continues.
Derek Coulson already been the surprise package of the tournament heading into this game. The 56-year-old Welshman upset the much-fancied Mervyn King in the opening round before impressively dispatching Tony O'Shea in the last 16. Coulson started incredibly strongly in the one too, taking the opening set 3-1 with legs solid legs of 16, 13 and 15.
The second set also went the way of the left-hander as the Welshman doubled his advantage in a deciding 5th leg that saw both players have opportunities to take the set. Henderson came fighting though, as you might expect of a world champion, halving the deficit to keep himself alive by winning set 3 clearly upping his level too with a 15-darter.
After Coulson sent a message of his intent to take the opening leg of set 4 in 13 darts, Henderson immediately levelled the set at 1-1. Coulson then took leg 3 to move one away from the win before the drama unfolded on the iconic Circus Tavern stage. 'Hendo' missed numerous chances to force a deciding leg to the set, before Coulson finally secured the biggest win of his career to date after a number of missed darts at double of his own.
The 2025 World Seniors Darts Championship will be available to view on a number of different services. Every dart thrown will be available via subscription service Discovery+, whilst TNT Sports offers coverage of the tournament across it's various channels.
The BBC are also covering the tournament, although their free-to-air coverage is consigned to either the BBC IPlayer and BBC Sport apps, or the Red Button channels.
