Mason comeback sees off Gulliver as Harbour dumps out Adams

Chris Mason and Dennis Harbour are the first players through to the second round of the World Seniors Darts Masters in Yeovil courtesy of victories over Trina Gulliver and Martin Adams.

First up it was 'the Golden Girl' Trina Gulliver against Chris Mason. First blood was Gulliver's as the 10-time World Champion raced to a clean sweep in the opening set. Despite the fact Mason began to find his feet in set two, Gulliver was rampant and 2-0 ahead.

Mason wasn't done yet though and the 2000 World Masters semi-finalist bounced back in set three thanks to a pair of ton-plus checkouts. In a pivotal final leg of set 4, both players missed darts for it before Mason finally pinned double 4 to level the game back up a 2-2.

After more double trouble in the fifth set, Mason moved in front for the first time in the matchup at 3-2, just one set away from victory. From there, the writing was on the wall for a fading Gulliver and a few minutes later, Chris Mason was a 4-2 winner.

Dennis Harbour faced off with Martin Adams next up. And it was 'the Harbour Master' who took the opening set. Adams fired back in the second to level things up but a ruthless 81 checkout then restored Harbour's advantage.

Again though, Adams bounced back taking set 4 in a deciding leg to get back to level terms. The methodical Harbour seemed to be the more consistent of the pair though and Adams' form fluctuated, Harbour moved 3-2 ahead. This time, 'Wolfie' was unable to peg back to all square, handing Harbour the 4-2 win.
