Thursday afternoon marks the start of the third edition of the World Seniors Darts Championship. At the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, darters over the age of 50 will compete for the world senior title.
In the opening match of the tournament, Scott Mitchell and Matt Clark face each other. Mitchell is a former Lakeside champion and is considered an outside bet for the title. Clark is certainly no stranger either. ‘Superman’ held a PDC Tour Card for many years and competed in the PDC World Championship six times.
David Cameron next faces off with Jim Long. The latter is one of the qualifiers, but already has some stage experience through his participation in the PDC World Championship during the 2019 edition. Cameron is one of the few players on the World Seniors Darts Tour (WSDT) who already has a television tournament to his name there. The Canadian was the victor at the World Seniors Darts Masters in 2022.
Next up is debutant John Henderson, who faces Trina Gulliver. The latter, alongside Deta Hedman, is one of two female participants at the World Seniors Darts Championship 2024. The final match of the afternoon session is between Terry Jenkins and Paul Hogan.
