John Henderson, Jim Long, Lisa Ashton and Colin McGarry will decide Sunday night who will run away with the overall victory at the 2024 World Seniors Darts Championship. There will be a new name on the trophy guaranteed, as two-time and only tournament winner Robert Thornton was eliminated in the last sixteen.
Andy Hamilton was responsible for that. However, 'The Hammer' then went down against pre-tournament favourite, John Henderson. The popular Scot has also taken wins over Trina Gulliver (3-1) and Kevin Painter (3-1) at this tournament. His upcoming opponent, Jim Long began the tournament with a win over compatriot David Cameron (3-1). He then dealt with Martin Adams (3-0) and Paul Hogan (3-2).
In the other semi-final, Lisa Ashton and Colin McGarry face each other. Ashton was able to win 3-2 in sets over Mike Huntley in the first round. This marked the first time in her career that "The Lancashire Rose" had won against a man at a televised event. She didn't have to wait long for another taste of it, as Scott Mitchell (3-0) and Chris Mason (3-1) also had to bow to the four-time women's world champion.
McGarry has already beaten a nice string of names at this tournament. He opened with a surprising 3-1 win over Leonard Gates. Then the 58-year-old Northern Irishman recorded victories over Richie Burnett (3-1) and Mark Dudbridge (3-1).
