John Henderson applies the final hammer blow to Andy Hamilton's 2024 World Championship hopes 🏴 #WSDC2024
Pre-tournament favourite, John Henderson has reached the semi-finals of the 2024 World Seniors Darts Championships via a relatively comfortable 3-1 over Andy Hamilton on Sunday afternoon.
Averaging a touch over 90, Henderson was considerably the better scorer of the pair, but his hit-and-miss doubling meant that for much of the tie, Hamilton was managing to keep contact. After both the first two sets went with the darts, 'The Hammer' actually secured the first break of the match in set 3. He couldn't capitalise though with Henderson taking six of the next seven legs to ease into the semi-finals on debut.
In the second quarter-final of the afternoon, Paul Hogan and Jim Long were very evenly matched. The Englishman took the earlier advantage but Long raced through the subsequent two sets to control himself. With set 4 going all the way to a decider, Long was granted five darts for the match but passed up each one allowing Hogan to level up at two apiece and send the tie to a decider. Nevertheless, Long was impressively able to put those misses to the back of his mind a clean the fifth set 3-0 to take the win.
