The World Seniors Darts Tour (WSDT) has announced that
Steve Beaton will make his appearance on the seniors circuit in 2025. This organization organizes tournaments for (well-known) darters over the age of 50.
Beaton had previously indicated that he wants to quit the PDC circuit after the current season. If he is still in possession of a PDC Tour Card at that time, "The Bronzed Adonis" will turn it in. He is an absolute crowd favorite with darts fans around the world. He became world champion at Lakeside in 1996 when he defeated Richie Burnett in the final. Earlier, Beaton had also won the Winmau World Masters in 1993.
Beaton made the move to the PDC Tour in 2001 and has been a fixture on the circuit ever since. He reached the semifinals of World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, UK Open and Grand Slam and also reached the final of the European Championship in 2009. Beaton has competed in the World Darts Championship as many as 33 consecutive times since 1992.
Later this year, Beaton hopes to add a 34th World Championship entry. After that, his adventure begins with the World Seniors Darts Tour. There, his first World Championship entry is already on the horizon, as the WSDT has given him a wildcard to compete in the
World Seniors Darts Championship in February 2025.
"When I announced that this year would be my last, I always had one eye on playing on the WSDT Tour" he said.
"I'm really happy to confirm that I will play WSDT events from 2025 onwards, and I'm thankful to them to receive an invitation to play in the World Championship".
"I love darts, and I love competing, and I still feel that my game is good enough to win titles, and hopefully this will be the case once I get started".
