The first six months of the
Pro Tour 2024 are now behind us. If we take another look at the results in detail, we do see a striking statistic.
The PDC Pro Tour 2024 embraces the thirty tournaments of the
Players Championship and the thirteen tournaments of the European Tour. Currently, we already have 22 of those (14 Players Championships and 8 Euro Tours) behind us.
Whereas previously certain players stood out for an entire year, you now see tournament wins being distributed much more. For example, this year only Luke Littler (1 Players Championship and 2 Euro Tours), Dave Chisnall (1 Players Championship and 1 Euro Tour) and Gary Anderson (1 Players Championship and 1 Euro Tour) managed to win multiple tournaments on the Pro Tour.
Alan Soutar is perhaps the biggest surprise this year.
Perhaps the most surprising winner so far this year was Alan Soutar. The 46-year-old Scot won the 11th Players Championship of the year last month, immediately his first ranking title at the PDC. Then again, the most surprising absentee is Michael van Gerwen, who remains without a title on the Pro Tour for the time being this year.
The Pro Tour is now halted for about a month and resumes July 31 in Milton Keynes with Players Championship 15.
