Robert Thornton was taken to extra time by John Part. But he fell over the line at the
World Seniors Darts Matchplay to move into the Quarter-Finals as the previously dominant WSDT kingpin aims to regain his form.
Albeit by his own admission, he said that he isn't there yet and he needs more practice to get back to where he was a year ago.
"That's the first one. It's hard to describe. I was under a little bit of pressure but he's one of those players, he never knows when he's beaten and neither do I," said Thornton to OnlineDarts.
"To be honest with you I think I'm a fair bit away. But if I keep practicing hopefully I'll be back to where I was a year ago. MODUS Super Series is massive. It helps you with your practice, it helps you with your game and helps you with your stage experience."
Next up is Martin Adams. A player he is friends with and he said it is going to be tough as a result.
"It's going to be hard, I love Martin. We always have tough games. But I'm going to have to turn it up a bit tomorrow."
