Darts fans in droves want to see the exploits of their darts heroes live in action at the
European Championship. The event has already sold more than 30,000 tickets, even though the event won't take place until late October.
Competing in the European Championship are the 32 best players on the PDC European Tour Order of Merit. The tournament will be held at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund from Thursday, Oct. 24 to Sunday, Oct. 27.
The growing popularity of the four-day event was evident in 2023 when a record number of spectators attended an event organized by PDC Europe. Back then, 30,000 tickets were sold, but interest is thus even higher this season. According to the PDC, never before have so many tickets been sold for a PDC event hosted outside the United Kingdom.
The field of participants for the European Championship will be confirmed on Sunday, Oct. 20, after the Czech Darts Open. The Euro Tour tournament in Prague is the last of thirteen Euro Tour tournaments to be played this year.
The European Championship will be played for the seventeenth time this year. Phil Taylor won the first four editions, while Michael van Gerwen would later also win the tournament four times. Other former winners include Rob Cross (2), Peter Wright (2), Adrian Lewis (1), Simon Whitlock (1), James Wade (1) and Ross Smith (1).
