Field

It is a field which has received much conjecture with the addition of Raymond van Barneveld. Many thought he was set to retire but that wasn't the case.
He has received a special exemption in order to play in this tournament and will be involved in Portsmouth alongside the likes of John Henderson, Simon Whitlock, Mervyn King and other legends of the sport.

Where to watch World Seniors Darts Champion of Champions

Previously the tournaments have been shown on TNT Sports or BBC. But that doesn't appear to be the case with Pluto.TV showing the tournament in full on their app.
Available on platforms such as Fire TV, Apple and Google Play, it is what is used currently for the MODUS Super Series.
Ironically in the same venue as the MODUS Super Series anyway. It will begin at 1pm with all matches in one day in a bumper afternoon session.

Prize Money Breakdown

It has been not confirmed yet. £24,000 was set for the winner last year in Blackpool. It will be updated accordingly below when it is edited and is confirmed ahead of the tournament.

Predictions

Samuel Gill, Head Editor for DartsNews.com sees a certain Ross Montgomery finding his way through.
Superb at the Circus Tavern earlier this year, some players ala Richie Howson and Leonard Gates are made for this and Ross Montgomery is.

Rampant Ross Montgomery...
The clamour will be about Raymond van Barneveld playing but while he's done ok in the PDC many who are involved are also in the same boat.
In that they've played it recently, for instance Steve Beaton, Mervyn King and Simon Whitlock so it will certainly be an entertaining affair but one that Montgomery I see scooping.

** Richie Howson, John Henderson
Kieran Wood, writer for DartsNews.com sees a Barney revival. Raymond van Barneveld is my pick for this one. He’s got the big-game experience, he’s used to the spotlight, and crucially, he’ll want to remind the world that he can still lift silverware. This format suits him – short, sharp, high-pressure matches – and I think he’ll thrive in it.
Of course, Ross Montgomery arrives as top seed and in strong form after his Tavern triumph earlier this year. He’ll be dangerous again and deserves respect as a proven performer in the seniors ranks.
Elsewhere, the likes of Simon Whitlock and Mervyn King could do some damage. Whitlock’s still got the scoring power and King knows how to manage big occasions. John Henderson could go on a run too, depending on which version of Hendo shows up.
Keep an eye on Richie Burnett and Richie Howson as well – both have been in the mix at various seniors events and are capable of turning it on at the right moment.

Pieter Verbeek, editor at Dartsnieuws.com, believes that Raymond van Barneveld enters the tournament as the clear favourite for the title.
He was quite steady at the floor tournaments in Leicester last week and boasts a decent 93.58 average over the past twelve months. That’s a stat no one else in this field can match, some players don’t even reach that level in a single match.
Verbeek is also hopeful that Mervyn King can make an impact at the event. King still regularly proves that he’s good enough to compete at the highest level. Just last week, he made it to the last 16 at a Players Championship event. At the Seniors World Championship, he was unlucky to meet an opponent in the first round who played the match of his life. A final between Van Barneveld and King would be something I’d love to see.

Mats Leering, writer for DartsNieuws.com is going more for proven Seniors pedigree.
For me, Richie Howson is the favourite to win the tournament. He has proved at the WSDT on several occasions that he is one of the best, and was also the strongest last year.Other than that, I am curious to see what Raymond van Barneveld can show. There has been a lot of talk about him competing. I hope he can show his class and go far. I also hope we get to see the old Mervyn King and Simon Whitlock again and that they can possibly pull off a shock.
