The ADC Global Championship will undergo a major transformation in 2026. This tournament from the Amateur Darts Circuit (ADC) is not only growing significantly in size, but also radically changing its format. With an expansion from 56 to no fewer than 128 players and the introduction of a straight knockout system, the organizers are clearly opting for more spectacle and higher pressure.
The tournament will be staged from November 1 through 8, 2026 at the MODUS Live Lounge in Portsmouth. For eight days, everything revolves around top-level amateur darts, with matches broadcast live worldwide on Pluto TV and YouTube. In addition, fans are welcome in the venue all week during the ADC Global Championship, which should create an intense and intimate atmosphere close to the stage.

Every match is do-or-die

The biggest change is undoubtedly the playing system. Where a 56-player field and a less unforgiving setup were used before, the new format means every match is immediately decisive. If you lose, you’re out. It couldn’t be simpler — or harsher.
An insider from the organization puts it aptly: “With this format, every match counts from the first dart. One bad game and you can pack your bags.” That shifts the focus even more toward mental resilience and instant performance, something traditionally demanded at the very top professional level.
The expansion to 128 participants also throws the door wide open for new talent. No fewer than 72 additional players will get the chance to test themselves on the global stage. That has a direct impact on the tournament’s international character. In 2026, qualifiers from, among others, Africa, Canada, and Australia will also make their appearance.

More routes, more opportunities

With the growth of the field, the qualification system is also being significantly expanded. Players will have multiple pathways to book their spot at the prestigious tournament in Portsmouth. Extra tickets will be awarded to regional number ones, and players can qualify via the combined VAULT rankings across Series 14 through 18.
In addition, the Winmau Western European Tour plays a key role. The top sixteen players from this tour, measured over twelve tournaments, qualify directly for the finals. This makes the Western European circuit a crucial springboard for players aiming to realize their ambitions on the ADC’s biggest amateur stage.
“We want to reward performance over a longer period. This system gives players multiple chances to prove themselves,” the organization states.

Sixteen sessions, maximum immersion

Not only the field and format are being overhauled, the tournament structure is getting an upgrade too. In total, sixteen live sessions will be played, spread over eight days with afternoon and evening sessions. That gives the event a setup that strongly resembles major televised tournaments.
The choice of the MODUS Live Lounge is a deliberate one. The compact venue is known for its intimate setting, where fans sit close to the action and every dart is palpable. Combined with live broadcasts on Pluto TV and YouTube, the organization is aiming for maximum engagement from both the in-house audience and viewers worldwide.
With a total prize fund of £126,000, there is also an extra incentive for the participants, who will be playing not only for pride, but also for a serious financial reward.

“A huge step forward”

According to ADC figurehead Scott Hunt, this edition marks an important moment in the development of amateur darts. “The ADC Global Championship 2026 is a huge step forward for us and for the wider amateur game,” he says.
He particularly emphasizes the importance of opportunity and visibility: “The expansion from 56 to 128 players is about more opportunities, opening more doors, and giving more players the chance to showcase themselves on a truly global stage.”
