With the BDO World Championship not taking place in 2021 due to the demise of the organisation, DartsNews continues to look back at some of the best moments from over the years in the showpiece tournament.
In 1980, Eric Bristow finally managed to reach his first World Championship final after two disappointing prior efforts. He met darts legend Bobby George, who eliminated the first BDO world champion Leighton Rees, among others.

However, a victory over George didn’t occur as ‘The Crafty Cockney’ got the better of ‘The King of Bling’. Bristow would later also become world champion in 1981, 1984, 1985 and 1986.
