With the BDO World Darts Championship not taking place due to the demise of the organisation, DartsNews takes a look back at some of the best moments in the history of the showpiece event which would usually take place in January.
1979's edition of the World Championship was held at Jollees Cabaret Club in Stoke-on-Trent and it saw John Lowe and Leighton Rees face off once more in the final.
Rees became the first champion in 1978 but this time around it was Lowe who became World Champion with a 5-0 win which saw him claim £4,500.
