The second round line-up has been completed with victories for Jeffrey de Zwaan and Gerwyn Price to end the afternoon session at the European Championship.

De Zwaan dumped out Peter Wright making him the latest name to bow out of the tournament in Gottingen. He hit six 180’s and averaged 101.8 en route to a 6-4 win.

It was a promising start for ‘The Black Cobra’ as he opened up a 3-1 lead over Wright with a 101 average at the time. It was a clinical ten darter from De Zwaan as he went 4-1 up.

De Zwaan went 5-2 up and one away from the victory and seemed to be cruising towards the finishing line but there was a stumbling block on the road. Wright hit back-to-back legs to go one behind and make it 5-4.

Despite that De Zwaan won through 6-4 to avert the late comeback from ‘Snakebite’ and means that Wright can’t avenge his defeat to Van Gerwen in Leicester by winning a title.

It was a similarly close tie between Gerwyn Price and Ted Evetts. Price averaged 100.3 and produced a high checkout of 167 as he moved past a potential tough test against ‘Super Ted’.

Price took a 2-0 lead early on but it was back-to-back legs for Evetts as he broke throw and made it 2-2. ‘The Iceman’ landed the aforementioned 167 checkout to lead 3-2 which was potentially the big catalyst.

They continue to jostle for position but when Evetts missed darts at doubles. Price went 5-4 ahead and then claimed the victory from there in a close tie.
