The big wins continue at the 2019 European Championship with Vincent van der Voort and Michael Smith winning through with consecutive 6-1 wins.
Van der Voort was the first smashing an out of sorts Mensur Suljovic in an impressive performance; one potentially helped by his best friend Michael van Gerwen being on commentary.
'The Dutch Destroyer' was in dreamland taking a break at 4-0 up; after further missed darts by Suljovic, Van der Voort went one away.
Suljovic claimed one leg going one away; but it was too much of a mountain to climb in the end as Van der Voort claimed a brilliant victory.
Smith was facing off against Ian White who he has lost the last few games to and with them being practice partners, 'Bully Boy' has got one over 'Diamond' and in a big way.
He defeated White 6-1 with a 106 average and 75 percent on the doubles; in an almost perfect performance from the St Helens ace.
He doubled his lead in quick succession smashing in a 130 checkout and from there he broke throw and at the interval he was leading 5-0 having hit seven perfect darts and finishing on D20.
White averted the whitewash with a 112 checkout at 5-1 down but like Ratajski who would also be seen as a favourite to claim their maiden major title, White couldn't seize the initiative and find a way back into the tie from there with Smith performing excellently.
