Jeffrey De Zwaan began lockdown with a setback having to have shoulder surgery but despite that, the Dutchman will be involved in next week’s Summer Series.

In an interview with RTL Nieuws, De Zwaan gave an update on his injury and said that he has been building up his practice in the last month.

“I am pleasantly surprised. I no longer feel pain and I can stretch my arm normally again, I couldn’t do that at first. And I no longer have any problems with throwing, ”says De Zwaan. “I have been practising a bit for over a month now and I am building it up in terms of hours. I think it is going quite well. ”

“It’s a bit of a fresh start for me,” De Zwaan continued. “I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve missed darts a lot in recent months. ”

Despite De Zwaan practising for another month, he goes to the PDC Summer Series without expectations. “I know roughly what my level is now. Occasionally I peak with a 100 average, but I have not been able to maintain that over a longer period of time. I just go there to see where I am. If I expect too much from myself now, I will be behind.”

For ‘The Black Cobra’, the same goes for the World Matchplay which is straight after the Summer Series: “I just hope it’s my day, because if I have my day, I can still win. I am feeling well and my arm is working again, so I’ll go for it. ”
