Two young super talents took the stage at the Winmau World Masters on Sunday to play the final of one of the major JDC tournaments. It was Jack Johnson who eventually walked away with the title.
The JDC organizes tournaments for talented darters aged ten to seventeen. The final of the JDC Youth World Championship is always traditionally played at Alexandra Palace, but the final of the JDC Super 16 has also been given a prominent place.
In the final, 13-year-old Johnson and 12-year-old Jayden Walker battled for the title, which was also previously won by players such as Luke Littler and Keane Barry. It turned out to be a spectacular final.
Walker threw a 113 finish in the first leg, while Johnson then took four legs in a row thanks to a 104 checkout and a 151 finish. Helped by a 14-darter, Walker came back to 4-3 before Johnson took the title via double 12. 'Jackboy' finally reached a neat average of 85 in the final.
Johnson is the successor to Joe Westby, who disposed of Cayden Smith in last year's final. Luke Littler won the tournament in 2022 and 2023, while "The Nuke" lost to Keane Barry in the finals in 2020.
🏆Luke Humphries wasn't the only champion yesterday!
